October 2008: O’ Canada!

On October 20, 2008 a group of us went to Eastern Canada to watch our Ducks play the Maple Leafs, Ottawa Senators, and Montreal Canadiens.

The ACC: Air Canada Centre, Toronto

Our first game was in Toronto on October 21, where the Ducks won this game in a shootout, 3-2. It was a weird win, as Leafs coach Ron Wilson substituted his goalie right before the shootout.  So that goal tender, who played just a few minutes, ended up receiving the loss in the record book, even though the other goalie played the majority of the game.

After the 3-2 win in Toronto, we spent one day exploring the city. Some of the group went to Niagara, some of us went shopping.  On October 23, we left Toronto for Montreal.

Scotiabank Place, Kanata, Ottawa

On October 24, we hired a bus to take us from Montreal to Kanata, a city outside Ottawa for the 2nd of the 3 road trip games. The Ducks beat the Senators 4-3.

On October 25, the Ducks played the last of the Eastern Canada teams at the Bell Center against the Montreal Canadiens. The Canadiens have never lost a home game, and they were one of the hottest NHL teams right now. They were also celebrating their 100 year anniversary, and their souvenirs with the 100 logo were flying off the shelves.

The Ducks beat the Habs 6-4. Not only did they beat them, they also beat 2 goalies.

Way to go, Ducks.. an Eastern Canada SWEEEEP!
