Passau: lunch at Heilig-Geist-Stift-Schenke restaurant

The Viking Var was unable to dock at Passau, so we were bussed in from Regensburg. Since we couldn’t go back to the ship for lunch, Viking Var had lunch for us at Heilig-Geist-Stift-Schenke, which loosely translates to Holy Spirit Tavern.

After the concert at St. Stephen’s cathedral, our Cruise Director Tanya walked us to the restaurant where we had a fixed menu, and yes, like on the ship the beer, wine and soft drinks were included.

Our group sat downstairs in the cellar, which was really interesting. It reminded me of a medieval tavern. We shared a table with a couple from the mid west, who never had German food before.

The food came out quickly, it was hot, and tasted great. We even got dessert and coffee. Kudos to the restaurant staff for a job well done.
