Ralph Brennan’s Jazz Kitchen is located in the heart of Downtown Disney, in the Disney Resort area. Visiting the Downtown Disney area is free, and they also validate parking for an additional 2 hours, giving you 4 hours total. I came here with Stephen for brunch on a gloomy Sunday afternoon and lucky for us, there was no wait at 1:00 pm. Clarification, no wait for a table but you do have to wait.. for service.
We waited the longest time for our server to take our drink order. Even then it took a while to get our drinks, and by then we had already ordered our meal. They serve their coffee (which is very good, by the way) in a small coffee cup and saucer, so drink it sparingly, because getting a refill may take a while.
Lucky for us, our table was right by the stage, so we were entertained by the banjo and clarinet/ saxophone/ trombone playing duo. I’m not sure how long it took for food, but I was thankful that we got 2 hours of validation as I’m sure our first hour was close to expiring.
I ordered the Corned Beef Hash n Eggs. Lovely presentation but the order was 80% potatoes, maybe an ounce of corned beef and 2 semi hard cooked egg on top. Your protein was the egg, not the corned beef. On a 5 star rating, this dish is a 3 star. Tasty but mostly filler for the price.
Stephen had the Jambalaya with pasta. The pasta was secondary, and his dish had plenty of sausage and shrimp. He really liked it and said it had a kick to it, but not overly spicy. Sounds like a winning dish compared to mine.
Coffee was excellent, and it went well with our hot beignets that we ordered for dessert. 5 decent size beignets with a decent amount of powdered sugar. I’d ask for more sugar or have them balance the sugar when dusting the beignets. With tax and tip, our brunch came to $65. Not the cheapest but then again, you’re at a Disney Resort area. Giving this a 3 1/2 star rating because the food was good, but the service was extremely slow. Even with the validation, I barely made it out of the parking lot.
