Anaheim Ducks: Paint the Ice Event (@anaheimducks)

On Saturday, April 28th, the Anaheim Ducks provided season tickets holders (now called the Orange Alliance) the opportunity to paint the NHL ice before scraping it down for the season. They had 4 time spots from 10:00, 11:00, 12:noon, and 1:00, with each session lasting 45-minutes.

After going through security and signing waivers, we picked up our paint brushes, paint, and gloves and carefully stepped on the ice. Since we were the first group, we had pretty much pick of the ice.  There was an area in the corner dedicated to defenseman, Francois Beauchemin, who was retiring after this season.  Fans could say thanks and farewell to him.

After my “merci” to Frankie, I chose to paint my message on Center Ice, right above the Ducks logo.  I wasn’t sure what to write… so I chose a simple “we were here” message:

Stephen & Mochelle #Painting it Orange

Some other fan painted a funny face near my message, so I asked if I could draw an arrow to his picture (so it would be easy to spot in the aerial photo).  My friends Sandy painted a few messages as well:

After the event was over, the Anaheim Ducks posted the final product on Instagram (IG: @AnaheimDucks). I was able to find my message easily.  I hope we get to do this again next season. It was fun.. even though our season ended prematurely.
