Round 2: Ducks extinguish the Calgary Flames in 5 games

The Ducks swept Winnipeg in Round 1 and had 8 restful days to get ready for the next opponent, either the Vancouver Canucks or the Calgary Flames.  We soon learn it was to be Calgary and game 1 of the 2nd round was on April 30th at the Honda Center.

Sadly on game day, the arena was not sold out.  Perhaps it was a weeknight?  Or, perhaps hockey just isn’t that important in Orange County?  Whatever the case, it was sad to see speckles of empty seats.

It was a great game, where the Ducks dominated the entire game, and beat our old goal tender Jonas Hiller, and his team with the final score 6-1.

Game 2 was another intense game. Jonas Hiller was not starting for Calgary and the job was given to Karri Romo. The Ducks was too much for Calgary, and we won game 2 with a 3-0 shutout.

Games 3 and 4 was at Calgary, and we watched it at the Tilted Kilt in Orange.  The Ducks lost game 3 which meant we would have to play a game 5 at the Honda Center.  On Thursday, we went back to the Tilted Kilt to celebrate Anita’s birthday and to watch the game.  This game went back and forth, and in the end, the Ducks came out victorious.

Game 5 was back at the Honda Center on Mother’s Day.  The Flames took an early lead, and fortunately the Ducks tied the game in the 3rd period, forcing it into overtime.  Corey Perry got the game winning goal, ending the series against the Flames.
