Santa Ana: Masala Craft Indian

Who would have thought you can get good Indian food at the mall food court? I came here based on the positive reviews. Based on the price and portion, the reviews were spot on again. This food stand is located next to the Hot Dog on a Stick.  The staff was courteous, but not overly cheerful as they helped serve your food.

Portions were relatively large, plus you get rice AND hot naan bread with your meal. Stephen and I decided to split a 3 item combo for $8.95. We got a generous serving of the fluffy basmati rice and chose these 3 items:
– Chicken Tikka Masala, which wasn’t overly spicy and had good flavor
– Tandoori Chicken, surprisingly moist
– Saab Paneer (spinach and cheese), creamy and probably my favorite of the 3

Of the three items, the serving for the Chicken Tikka Masala was the skimpiest. Mostly sauce, and a few cubes of chicken. A huge disappointment, since we had a generous helping of the Tandoori chicken, and a full container of the Paneer.

While the guy rang up the food, hot naan bread was placed on our tray. We asked for 2 plates to share the food. Plenty of food indeed!! With 2 cokes, the meal was just under $14, and we were full.  This would have been 5 stars if not for the puny serving of the Tikka Masala. Otherwise, not bad for mall food.
