It was a long day at the museum, and we were still jetlagged. We went back to the hotel to take a nap. We didn’t leave the hotel until late, and unfortunately, that meant we were limited to the places we could eat, and found this place opened at 8:00 pm.
The Block Steak House is a chain restaurant. It reminded me of an Applebees meets Sizzlers from back home. They try to be a casual “American” steak house, where they offer, steaks, sandwiches, and salads. Our meal came with a salad and then our steak and potato.
The food wasn’t bad. I would certainly go back there again, except I would pass on their version of “sour cream”. Unlike American sour cream, the German version is not creamy at all. Its like thick Blue Cheese (without the cheese crumbles). And, they also don’t put regular butter in your baked potato, but use garlic butter, similar to that you put in garlic bread.
