Bruxie is a casual dining restaurant, best known for their gourmet waffle sandwiches, called a Bruxie.
What is a Bruxie?
Bruxie is a new take on The Sandwich, using a creative version of an authentic Belgian Waffle as the bread. The waffle is light, airy, crispy, and not sweet. Bruxie Waffles are paired with quality seasonal ingredients, offering both Savory choices like Buttermilk Fried Chicken, Prosciutto & Gruyere, and Hot Pastrami, as well as a variety of Sweet options such as our Seasonal Crème Brulee, Nutella & Banana and S’Mores.
In addition to their sweet and savory Bruxie, they also serve coffee drinks, desserts and treats, such as a frozen custard made with Wisconsin custard. On a warm Sunday afternoon, we decided to stop here for a root beer float, and to use a voucher we got at an Anaheim Ducks game for a free custard. Stephen really likes their custard, saying Bruxie is one of the few places in Southern California which has Wisconsin custard. The custard is creamy, smooth, light and refreshing, and not tangy like many custards.
The root beer float was also very refreshing. The soda they use is not a commercial brand, and I believe they use the custard in the float. The beverage was smooth and creamy, and so delicious. I ran out of root beer, and was hesitant about asking if they could add more, but chose not to. Perhaps, next time I may ask.
The menu is affordable, and they also have a kid’s menu, and are pet friendly. They have indoor and outside seating, with most tables being communal. They use eco friendly products, and use organic items, including their soft drinks.
They have locations all over Orange County, and now one in San Diego on the campus of SDSU.
