OMG: Vegan doesn’t mean less calories!!

I’m the type of person who will eat something over and over again once I get some sort of craving. I tried Veggie Grill and loved it. I could not wait to go back for more. I mean, it’s vegan… It’s healthy, right?

As I mentioned in the first visit, I had doubts about how many calories I was eating. I sort of figured that I was eating about the same as going to any other fast food place. This time, I calculated my food before eating. Yikes!! I was better off eating at McDonald’s.

To start off, I was eating by myself so I decided to go for the kids meal. They had a kids crispy Cauliflower and sweet potato fries, and for dessert, a chocolate pudding. How many calories can that be?

I should’ve just stuck with the kids meal, but my eyes were bigger than my stomach and I added a buffalo chickin entrée. I mean its eating all plant-based food…again, how many more calories can it be, right?

Apparently my food was well over 1000 calories. After I added the numbers I quickly asked for a box and took half of it to the office for another day. Remember, I got the kids meal, and that meal alone was close to 700 calories.  Imagine how many calories I would have consumed if I went for all adult entrées?

You may be “you are what you eat” but who knew that dining vegan was packed full of calories?!    I only ate half of everything, except I did eat all of the sweet potato fries, consuming 800 calories. Here I was trying to keep my daily intake to 1200 to 1300 calories.

I guess this is my splurge day?  Well, on the bright side, I can’t wait to eat my leftovers!
