My friends and I were at the Citzens Bank Arena and wanted to get a bite after the hockey game. It was about 8:45 pm on a Saturday, and my friends were in the mood for pizza, while I wanted chicken. Pieology and Blaze was too far, and we figured the restaurants near the Ontario Mills mall would be packed.
This place fit the bill: they were only 0.3 miles from the arena, they had pizza, chicken and even pasta. I called to make sure they were open, and they had seating. It’s a little hole in the mall place in a strip mall, near a Japanese BBQ and sushi place.
When we walked in, the phone was ringing off the hook! Delivery and pick up orders were keeping them busy. You place your order at the counter, and behind the arcade is the seating area with communal style tables and 4 large screen TV’s showing the UFC fights.
My friends chose pizza and chicken, Stephen chose spaghetti and I ordered the 4 piece chicken with potatoes. The food was cooked to order, and they were slow. My friend’s fried chicken came out first, followed by her salad. Later, my other friend’s personal pizzas came out. Ten minutes later, the small 5-Star pizza belonging to the friend with the chicken and salad came out. Stephen’s spaghetti and my chicken wasn’t ready yet.
Finally, Stephen’s spaghetti came out, but it was served in a foil container. The spaghetti was inside the container, mixed in a spicy marinara sauce, covered with meat, then cheese, and then ground meatballs. My chicken came out at least 20 minutes after everyone else’s food, but at least it was piping hot. It was crispy on the outside, tender and juicy inside, but I don’t know if it was worth the wait.
If you’re not in a hurry and want to kick back and watch the big screen, this is a place for you. It’s run by a bunch of young 20-something guys, so customer service and speed isn’t their strong point. They do make the food to order, and it was done right.
We didn’t leave until almost 10:30, and the staff was moping up the floor. Overall an OK experience. Food was cheap (especially the personal pizzas) and it was close to the arena.
