Getting a Date Shake

Driving back from Yuma to Orange County, we cut through the 86 and spotted ALL (and there’s a ton) of the Date Shake signs posted throughout the highway. How can you not get sucked in and stop for a Date Shake??

The place was empty, aside from the young man behind the cashier, and an older guy behind the counter, making the shakes. There’s aisles and aisles of dates, Turkish Delights, gifts, and even refrigerated dates. There was also a box of samples you can try, and they were good.

We came for the Date Shake, and I got the medium one for $5. Tax was included. I gave a buck tip and the shake was made in seconds. It was thick, creamy, and of course, sweet. If you’re lactose intolerant, they can make the shake with almond or soy milk for a upcharge. I didn’t even think of changing the milk, and I fared ok back home.

It was a nice stop, but a bit depressing. Lucky for them they had the signs, otherwise if you were to blink, you’d miss this place for sure! Opened daily from 9:00 to 9:00.
