I am a huge fan of IKEA. I like walking around the place, finding knick-knacks and stuff for my house. As many of you have read, I also go to IKEA for their food... yes, on purpose. The food isn’t gourmet, but its cheap, and well, different than your every day American food.
On Sunday, I was going to the OC Animal shelter to adopt a cat. We had time to kill, so I suggested we have a cheap breakfast at IKEA. The Costa Mesa location open every day for breakfast at 9:30 am, and we were first in line. I didn’t think that many people go to IKEA, but apparently the line was literally out the door.
For $2.00 we got the American – Swedish breakfast, which was scrambled eggs, 2 turkey sausage links, cubed potatoes, and 2 Swedish pancakes which were like crepes folded and a dollop of the lingonberry sauce added on top. If you arrive before 10 am, the coffee is free, saving us as whopping 75cents. We also added a side order of the famous Swedish meatballs for $1.00. I mean, how can you not get these famous meatballs?
The total for breakfast (did I mention the free coffee if you arrive before 10 am?) came to $5.40 for both of us. That’s one cheap meal.
