We made it to Luxor, to start the cruise part of our trip. We will be spending the rest of our trip on the MS Semiramis III river boat. As in Cairo, where Abdul was our city coordinator, the coordinator for Luxor is Ashraf. He greeted us at the Luxor airport and tranferred our group to the ship.
The ship is not as luxurious as the Viking Cruise we took last year to Germany, but it’s also a fraction of the price of a Viking Cruise. Yes the ship was a bit older, but it was clean and the staff went out of their way to make us happy.
We were greeted with a glass of karkade, a hibiscus tea, then shown to our rooms. Our room had everything we needed: a shower, shower gel/ shampoo, hair dryer, a vanity area, a few plugs (Euro style), and even a fridge.
We made it in time for dinner, which was a buffet. Included with our tour was an inclusive drink package, where from 10:am to 12: midnight we could have unlimited beer, wine, house liquor (whiskey, ouzo, brandy, etc.), cola, juice, small bottled water, coffee and tea.
After dinner, I stayed in our room to unpack and unwind…. Tomorrow is going to be an early day!
