Ramen? Pho? You can get both here. Chew Noodle Bar is located off Magnolia and Ball, in a strip mall with a Zumba studio. I’ve been eyeing this place since their soft opening back in February, and the one time I went, I found out they’re closed on Mondays.
Karen and I finally stopped by on a rainy Tuesday night around 6:30 pm. The place wasn’t busy yet, so we had our choice of a table. Our server handed us 2 menus, and told us that its a “build your own” noodle place. Appetizer are on the front page, and on page 2 is the Pho, and page 3 is the Ramen. Using the dry erase pens on the table, circle or tick off the choices you want.
We bypassed the appetizers (for next time… hope to catch their happy hour prices from 4:00-6:00) and went for the noodles.
Karen went with the small ramen, ticking off
– Shrimp Tempura as her protein
– Sprouts, Napa cabbage, Spinach, and mild flavoring
I chose the large pho with
– Brisket and Sirloin (rare)
– Thai Basil, Sprouts, and Cilantro
No egg or additional toppings for either of us, and also no dessert.
Overall a tasty dish. My pho was light and flavorful. I really liked the broth and drank it down. My only gripe is for a large, I thought it wasn’t that… large. Maybe we should have ordered appetizers. I thought the prices were a bit high, for a noodle joint, especially with so much competition in the OC area. Then again, there’s not really a ramen place nearby, with Fullerton being the closest place. So yes, I would go back to try other dishes.
