Buena Park : Rock & Brews

Food trumps service here. This could have been a great review if only the hostess wasn’t such a dimbulb. We made reservations at 5:00 on a Friday to celebrate my BFF’s son’s high school graduation. We asked to be seated in the left side of the restaurant, where it’s quieter and had more natural light. For our party of 7, we were seated in a table for 6, with a chair shoved at the end. We were told the other 8 empty tables of 8 were “reserved” for a large crowd.

We waited until 5:20 before I flagged a staff member, asking if we had a server. Apparently, our table wasn’t assigned one, so the young man took charge and took care of us. Drinks came out and we were heading in the right direction. The food came out promptly, and the happy hour items we ordered were very good.

The portions are generous, and cooked properly. Actually no real complaints about the food.

About 7:00 we were finishing up, and paying the bill, when we noticed the so-called the bunch of other “reserved” tables of 8 were unoccupied. My BFF’s husband was livid, and spoke to manager Pedro. Apparently Pedro just started his shift, and thoroughly apologized for the poor choice the hostess did. He wanted to comp us 2 desserts, but we wanted to just get out of there. He did comp us an entrée, which we appreciated. We did not take it out on the excellent server, so he did get a generous tip. We hope that the staff doesn’t share tip.

Overall an OK experience.
