Irvine: California Fish Grill

WHAT? No Taco Tuesday at this location?? I wonder if this is a franchise and not owned by the corporation? Regardless, I came to the one located off Jamboree on a Tuesday evening and maybe it was good there’s no Taco Tuesday. The place was busy but not packed. It’s been a while since I’ve been to a CFG, and I thought the one in Los Alamitos/ Cypress only allowed me 2 choices for sides. Apparently this location offers quite a bit more, and some are considered premiums (like brown rice). Nonetheless, I ordered the grilled trout in olive oil seasoning (a bit salty, should have stucked with the garlic sauce or plain grilled) and chose fries and zucchini.

They served my fish on top of the fries making the fries soggy. Had I known that, I would have asked for it on the side, or got something else.  Karen had the fish and chips, and received 3 big pieces with fries and KaleSlaw, which she liked.

There’s no huge commercial soda selection, but they do have a pepsi choice and then some natural cane selection. There’s a DIY salsa bar on the side with 2 types of tartar sauces, lemons, cilantro, and other condiments. I did not see malt vinegar though…

Overall not bad. Dinner came to around $20 for 2 of us. I left satisfied, and no real complaints except the fries were soggy due to the fish on top.
