Napa, Ca: The Model Bakery

For the past 90 years, Model Bakery has been part of the Napa Valley culinary scene. In 2016, Oprah Winfrey made it part of her Favorite Things list, and it has become a pin on the Napa Valley map.

Model has 3 locations, one in downtown Napa by Oxbow Market, one in Yountville, and one in St. Helena.  Our B&B was located blocks from the Napa location, so we stopped in our last day to pick up some of the famous English muffins.  Normally, there is a line out the door.  Fortunately, we came during the week, in the off season, and there was only 2 people ahead of us at 9:00 am.

In addition, we grabbed some sandwiches for the road.  I really wanted the BLT but they only offered breakfast food, so I picked the Breakfast Sandwich.  The sandwiches were made fresh, but unfortunately, didn’t travel well. It was soggy when we did eat them for lunch.  Overall, not satisfying.

The English muffins were good, but was soft compared to the “nooks and cranny” brand that I am used to.  I’m glad I tried it, but wasn’t that impressed like Stephen was.
