Stephen’s mother has never been to Alaska, and it has been a while since I was there. I think the last time I went on an Alaskan cruise was when I was a little girl. So, on a whim, we decided to book a cruise, and took Stephen’s niece, Sierra to be the mother’s cabin companion. The ship departed from Vancouver, British Columbia (Canada) on July 13, where we would stop at Ketchikan, Juneau, Skagway, with sea days at the Glacier Bay National Park and the College Fjord before stopping at Whittier, to be transferred via bus to Anchorage.

Dinner first night
After a day at sea, our first stop was Ketchikan, the salmon capital of the world. We didn’t really do much here except walked around the town, looked at a stream with spawning salmon, and took a few pictures.

Later that night, after the Captain’s Party, we decided after dinner to watch a movie under the stars. It was actually colder than we anticipated, as we watched the Tom Cruise movie, Jack Reacher.
