Hawaiian comfort with Pokinometry

Poke places are popping up everywhere, but this place seems to offer just a little bit more than the rest.  An excellent place if you are hankering for a poke bowl, and don’t want to shell out a ton of cash.

Choose between three different sizes with a variety of base: white or brown rice, salad, or tortilla chips. Each bowl comes with these additions, at no extra cost.
– crab meat,
– avocado,
– onions,
– pickled cucumber

The ordering is cafeteria style. After they add your base, they pass the tray to the next staff in the assembly line.  The next staff adds your fish. The quantity of fish depends on the size you want: For a small bowl, you get two scoops of fish, medium three, large five.  Each scoop looks a little over a 1/2 ounce.

Then the next staff mixes your fish with the sauce of your choice, from no spice to spicy.  From what I heard, the spicy is not very spicy at all. Then the next staff tops off your poke creation with: seaweed, sesame, wasabi, smelt eggs, and ginger…. also, at no additional charge.

I’ve been checking out other Poke places, and by far you get more here than the other places.  I don’t need to check in to get a free add on, because everything is included.

So why not 5 stars? Seating and parking.  If you wish to dine in, get here early, before 5:30.  The place has 8 tables, and a string of counter seats, and it fills up fast.  You can take it outside and find a park bench, perhaps.

Tiny dining area

There’s some street parking outside, but your best bet is to park at the structure, located behind the D-Rinks ice skating complex.  Its a no frills place ,so you won’t get warm fuzzies after leaving here, as the staff’s goal is to get you in and out as quickly as possible.
