Munich: Nuss-Michel is a nutty store

If you haven’t noticed on this trip, we’ve spent a lot of time at the Munich Central Train Station. After our heavy dinner at Rubenbauer, we decided to wander around the Train station. We came across Nuss-Michel, which is a little kiosk in the middle of the train station. Walking by the kiosk, you could smell the sweet aroma of freshly made nuts. It seemed to be an automatic for people to just look and inhale the sugary goodness.

The employee had just finished making a small batch of Gebrannte Mandeln, which the website said are “burned” (basically caramalized) almonds, which is their biggest seller. I got a bag of those nuts, while Stephen got a bag of the Nutella almonds, and took them back to the hotel.

The nuts were sweet and crunchy. I’m not into sweets, but these nuts were so addicting, I ate about 1/4 of the bag before calling it quits. It was definitely worth the €3,50.

According to their web site, other popular nuts are:

  • Oreo
  • Apple cinnamon
  • Caramel
  • Butter, literally just butter and sugar
  • With Nutella as the 7th most popular

A great little sweet treat on our last night in Munich!
