The last time I ate here was back in 2009, so its been a while. I was watching the History Channel (don’t laugh) and Jack and Ozzy Osbourne was on a road trip and stopped at an English Pub for lunch. The fish n chips they had looked so good, I suggested getting our fix for lunch at The Olde Ship.
The place looks like a proper English pub. Prices here aren’t cheap, but most of the ingredients are from England, it is cooked to order and the food is good. There’s plenty of ex-pats in the pub, and you can hear American and English accents co-mingling in conversation.
I was debating between cod or haddock for my fish, and chose the latter fish at $18 and added a side of mushy peas for $5. Stephen had the same, and added a pint of the Speckled Hen, as it was on special, and I had a pint of hard cider.
The haddock was a generous size fish, and took up 1/2 of my plate. Plenty of hot chips (fries) and a side of cole slaw. The mushy peas were mushy, but I would have liked them to be a little more creamier. Food was really good, even though lunch set us back almost $70, which is definitely a splurge for us.
