Lawry’s is probably one of my favorite restaurants, and definitely a place to go for a special occasion. I had a bonus gift card that was about to expire, and I also had VIP points from the Lawry’s Rewards program. Originally we were going to stop at the Sidedoor, the gastropub side of the Five Crowns, but they were not open until 4:30 pm, so we changed our plans for the Lawry’s Carvery for lunch.
The Lawry’s Carvery is located near Macy’s Men’s Store, facing Bear Street. This is a casual eatery where you place your order at the counter, and they bring your food to you. They have indoor and outdoor seating, and they also serve beer and wine.
Stephen and I both chose the Carvery Combination: a half prime rib sandwich for $13, which came with chips and a side salad or soup. I chose the butternut squash, while he selected the Caesar salad. Both choices were excellent. We added a side order of their delicious creamed corn, and with our drinks (Stephen had a beer, while I had a soft drink) it would have been $37. Thanks to my bonus card and my VIP points, the lunch was free.
While accessing my VIP points, the cashier said I had a free dessert that was about to expire. We chose the C.C. Brown’s sundae, which was valued at $6.00. A perfect ending to a satisfying meal.
