Anaheim, CA: The Blind Rabbit

There’s a food hall in Anaheim called the Anaheim Packing District.  The hall used to be the packing center for citrus in 1919.  Now, its a culinary collection of 50 food and beverage kiosks, and hidden on the first level is this Speakeasy called the Blind Rabbit. Find the hot pot restaurant, find this bar.

We had reservations on a Saturday night at 7:00 pm.  There’s no use arriving early, as the hostess would not let us in until our designated time.  The bar is tiny and dark.  There’s also a dress code and you have a time limit of 2 hours to enjoy your cocktails and food.  Reservations after 5:00 is highly recommended.

We were seated at the bar, and it took a while to get adjusted to the dim lights.  The hostess provided book readers to help us read the menu (and to see our food).  We started off by ordering small bites: the kurobuta corn dogs and the parmesan tots… highly recommended by the couple sitting next to us.

Meanwhile, I was stuck on a drink, and the woman next to me said try the “Does this Spark Joy”, a vodka, peach bitters, strawberry, cucumber, pineapple and lime cocktail.  Stephen had the Bacon Old Fashioned.

Stephen finished the evening with a Gentlemen’s Daisy, and the restaurant gave us 2 truffles on the house.  The fun part was leaving the Speakeasy through the “secret” exit door.
