Slayer: the Final Campaign

Slayer is a local Southern California band that was founded in 1981.  Last year I saw Slayer for the first time in Las Vegas at the Joint at the Hard Rock Cafe.  It was my first time seeing a thrash metal band ever.

After more than three decades of recording and performing, Slayer announced in January 2018 that they would embark on its final world tour, which began that year in May and ending on November 30, 2019 in Los Angeles, at the Forum. Stephen and I was at the very last show.

Philip H Anselmo (of Pantera) and the Illegals opened first and played for about 40 minutes, followed by Ministry.

Primus was the final band, before turning the stage over to the headliner, Slayer.

Slayer played for almost 2 hours. They did not have an encore, but they did end the concert with a “group selfie” and brought the crew on stage. Afterward, Tom Araya stood there looking at the crowd while we cheered, then turn around and quietly walked off the stage.
